Although I am versed in many techniques and art processes through my experience as a high school art teacher, I have recently begun to explore colored pencils.
I enjoy the challenge of depicting line, form, and value not only through the technique of drawing, my favorite form of expression
but with the added challenge of color. Nature journaling and field studies have been a part of my life for many years. Colored pencil lets me take those ideas and reference material from my journals and transfer them, along with my reference photos, to a completed piece of art. I have also begun to explore other subject matter through colored pencils and hope to continue to broaden the drawing experience to other areas. Now, it is as important for me to have an emotional and personal response to the subject as well as an aesthetic one.
