Creation Class Classroom

Thank you for your interest in teaching a class through the Haywood County Arts Council (HCAC). This opportunity is open only to HCAC artist members. We look forward to receiving your proposal and working with you to host a creation class! The first step is reviewing this page and then completing a proposal form. Please fill out this form for EACH class proposal. If you propose two classes, you will fill out two forms.

Requirements & Benefits

Please review the following information before submitting this proposal to make sure you understand the requirements and benefits of teaching a class hosted by HCAC.

1. Payment: Instructors and HCAC split the revenue of class registrants by the 30% (HCAC) / 70% (Instructor) ratio. HCAC will collect all fees from registrants and pay the instructor after the class is complete. The instructor may choose to donate their portion of the fee back to HCAC as an in-kind donation, which will be recognized with a tax-deductible letter.

2. Materials: Instructors are responsible for purchasing and preparing all necessary materials for each student. This cost is incorporated into the instructor’s fees. Support materials such as brushes, water containers, etc. will be provided by HCAC unless specialty equipment is needed.

3. Class Cost: To determine class cost, the instructor should consider the cost of materials, the number of hours of the class, and what the instructor considers a reasonable payment per student.

4. Number of Students: The number of students proposed should be based on how many students the instructor can reasonably teach at one time. HCAC recommends up to 12 students.

5. Advertising: HCAC will advertise the class on the website, social media, newsletters, and through press releases. The instructor should also help advertise through their own channels.

6. Cancellations: The instructor must give a 48-hour notice if under an emergency situation in which they must cancel. Creation Classes are non-refundable to the customers because processing takes a percentage of the sale and retains their fee even if refunded. This is why on the Creation Class webpage we note: “Creation Class registration is non-refundable. Please make sure you are able to attend before registering!” Thus, cancellations must be an absolute emergency or illness.

7. Location: All classes are held in HCAC’s classroom space at Church Street Studios (225 Church St. Waynesville, NC 28786)

8. Kid’s Art Club meets on the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 7 pm in the classroom space. Creation Classes cannot occur during this time

9. Creation Classes are offered May – December ONLY.

10. HCAC can offer a total of TWO classes per month through the months of May – December. Class proposals are first come first serve

11. HCAC MUST have at least a one-month lead time. This is to give us enough lead time to advertise the class offerings in our monthly newsletter. Last-minute proposals will not be accepted

12. Instructors and students must follow all Classroom Rules (see below)
