Haywood Made, an evening celebrating art, music and dance of today’s Appalachia, will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at The 37 Venue in downtown Waynesville.
Hosted by the Haywood County Arts Council, Haywood Made is a part of the Carolina Heritage Weekend, a four-day Haywood County art and culture experience.
“Haywood Made is an exciting event that celebrates the arts, music, and community in Haywood County,” said Tonya Harwood, HCAC executive director. “This community art celebration has something for everyone. We invite you to join us for a night of live music, dancing, art activities, and a silent auction, all while supporting the local arts community.”
Here’s what the evening has in store:
• Live music by The Maggie Valley Band, known for their unique blend of bluegrass and indie rock, and Mama Roux.
• Free community art activity, plus a fairy hair table for some sparkle.
• Showcase of artwork created by high school artists from across Haywood County.
• Silent auction of local artist member artwork, as well as a collection of artistically altered, one-of-a-kind, denim jackets.
• The American Ballroom Company dancers will offer line dancing lessons for attendees.
• Frog Level Brewing will have a selection of beer and wine, including a special collaborative label created in partnership with the arts council. Rollup Herbal bar will have a menu of non-alcoholic cocktails available.
Proceeds will be dedicated to the Haywood County Arts Council and its mission of supporting the arts in the community.
“Join us to learn from our talented instructors and discover the transformative power of dance,” said Keith Coppage, from the American Ballroom Company.
