Jo Martiel Brannen

Originally from South Georgia, I spent 32 years in South Florida before relocating to Haywood county. For someone who is inspired by nature, it is a wonderfully refreshing start to a new journey.

Painting was a medium I played around with off and on over the years, with little satisfaction in what I was creating. However, when my children were young I discovered polymer clay and began playing around with sculpting. After a few workshops, I found that I enjoyed the variety of applications involved in mixed media art dolls. In time I knew I needed more in-depth sculpting instruction, guidance and inspiration and began classes in sculpting, hand-building, and an introduction to throwing. It all makes me happy….even through the frustrations.

Having many opportunities to be in contact with, learn from, and be inspired by so many incredibly talented local artists is a gift and a joy.

My hope is to give people a reason to reflect, smile, or feel a bit of the whimsy that feeds my soul.
