Annie Jacobsen grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where she studied lampworking, kilnworking, and glassblowing through her degree in Crafts and Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. She went on to assist at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio in Norfolk, Virginia where she had the opportunity to have her first solo exhibition. Annie later received a scholarship to Penland School of Crafts, in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Her affections for Western North Carolina grew and she relocated to Asheville, North Carolina. She has pursued her work as a full-time glass artist in Asheville since 2019. She loves glass-working and finds the process both exhilarating and meditative. In 2021 she launched her own business “Her Glassworks” with the goal of working and collaborating with more women in the glass community. She rents hot shop time at the Jackson County Green Energy Park in Dillsboro, NC where landfill gas is utilized to fuel the furnace. She also has a flameworking studio at her home in West Asheville, North Carolina. She finds herself continually inspired by the natural world around her, which translates into her glasswork.
