As a native of the Southern Appalachians, it’s the grit, the weather, the rawness of nature and the strength of the folks who inhabit it that inspires my work.
Since I was a child, I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, nostalgia and the romance of days gone by. It’s because of those stories, either real or perceived, that I find myself pulled toward the old country roads and dusty barns. To the rows of brownstones and the sounds of children playing in the backyards. To the reflections of cars passing over rain-covered nighttime streets and shrimpers heading out for the nightly catch. To the wind spiraling through a lighthouse perched on the edge of the ocean. I’m truly fascinated and inspired by all of it.
As for the technical stuff… I’m a self-taught artist. I’ve worked with watercolors, acrylics and just recently started experimenting with pen and inks.
