My artistic endeavors started in 1967, in Michigan, as I was pursuing my education in architecture. I continued my fine arts studies while experimenting with whatever art supplies were available.  Since then, I have had the opportunity to hike all over the world, returning to these mountains that I love in 2002 when I moved to Waynesville. My interests evolved, especially with my certification in 2013 by the NC Arboretum as a Blue Ridge Naturalist.  I began to map and illustrate Western North Carolina as a way to share my enthusiasm with others receiving map commissions from conservancies and local business, as well. In 2017, I received a North Carolina Regional Artist Program Grant, which supported my efforts to develop technological art.

Currently, I delve more deeply into this area and my artistic expression by including digital brushes for watercolor, oils, pen and ink, etc., all of the media I began with, enhanced by current technology. In the previous decade, my illustrated maps and graphic renderings have been published with over 100,000 copies in circulation. The joy of creating art for practical and educational purposes inspires my desire to keep finding fresh ways to develop.
