The Mountaineer

August 1, 2023

The monthly gallery stroll throughout downtown Waynesville will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4.

Tour studios, watch art demonstrations and meet a variety of Haywood County creatives while enjoying live music, refreshments, and hors d’oeuvres — with shops staying open late for the evening out.

The Haywood County Arts Council will debut its new August exhibit “Dreams,” with an opening reception at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. The show features colorful and dreamy works by more than 34 local artist members — in a variety of mediums including oil, watercolor, photography, needle felting, acrylic, mixed media, glass, quilting and more.

The opening reception includes a live demonstration by mosaic artist Pam Hall, an assortment of tasty treats by Crepe & Custard and music by harpist Tina Morgan.

Marnie Brooks, an art’s council artist and photographer, said this show’s theme inspired her work because “dreams free us to create a realm of magic, beauty, mystery, and adventure.”

The Dreams exhibit runs through Aug. 28 at the Haywood Handmade Gallery at 86 N. Main St., Waynesville. Open seven days a week from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and 11 a.m.– 4 p.m. Sundays.
