Maitri Art embraces the expression of queerism as a fourth wave of feminism which is inclusive of all intersectionalities. Relying on mixed media such as photography, collage, and ceramics Maitri Art creates a healing of sacred energies transmitting healing through art. Maitri Art takes a stance of oneness and has expansive views of what art can be. The work of Maitri Art articulates the complexities of multidimensional realities embodying life as art. Maitri Art, was created by Tybee Tallulah Maitri who is a queer artist from New England. They are trans and believe queer visibility in art and community is of great value.
They studied Studio Art and Photography at Simmons University and have BA from University of North Carolina in Asheville in Women, Gender, and Sexualities Studies. They are inspired by nature, the cosmos, community, their higher power, the environment, as well as other artists. They work in mixed media collage, photography and clay. They enjoy the feeling of materials in their hands and the ability to construct new realities from pieces of paper, earth, and clay. They have lived in Western Northern Carolina for over a decade and enjoy and are inspired by their environment and community. They are currently a student at Haywood Community College studying Professional Craft Clay.
