Jeff Marley is a visual artist rooted in the cultural and natural landscape of Western North Carolina. Raised in the Smoky Mountains, his upbringing in Swain County and the Qualla Boundary deeply informs his creative practice. He earned a BFA in Studio Art from Western Carolina University in 2005 and an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2013.
Each piece I create is both an offering and an inquiry—grounded in my upbringing and lifelong connection to the Appalachian region. Through oil, acrylic, pen and ink, and other mediums, I explore the emotional weight and visual language of color and form. My work seeks to honor place while invoking memory, identity, and belonging.
