Reflections, Encaustic

Artist/Designer, Lingering Thymes Studio

From an early age growing up in Florida, followed by enchanted residences overseas, I’ve been captivated by the work of Hudson River School artists who captured the majestic beauty of American landscapes and represented the challenges to environments such as Yosemite and the Adirondacks. As a self-taught artist in oils, textiles, and encaustics (the application of pigmented beeswax to a chosen canvas), I've applied these concepts to every aspect of my work.

My encaustic landscapes are unique in that they are represented in a realistic manner (distinguished from the abstracts of most current encaustic work) and incorporate an environmental message. Personal creations, fashion and home accessories are functional and artistic, created from 95% repurposed materials.

Artists have the opportunity to represent the issues of the day . . . to prompt creative thought . . . to empower. We are looked upon for the beauty and inspiration we are able to create. In the process, I feel it important to incorporate a message that needs telling. This is the manner in which I have chosen to tell the tale.
