Beth Heller

I’ve been an artist, art educator, art therapist and a fine art conservator over the course of my life. My work as a conservator required precision and austere working conditions. Now that I spend my days in my studio in Canton, NC, my artwork is full of freedom, playfulness and a celebration of imperfection and experimentation, and I’m having SO much fun! My paper mâché bowls and tables were sold at the Paragon Gallery in Crested Butte, Colorado 25 years ago, and I’m happy to say that the ones I’ve seen in friends’ houses over the years are still vibrant and strong and scratch-free. I’ve been pulping my old business documents and adding that to the mix, and hand-painting with acrylics. Other projects include painting on vintage reel film canisters and turning them into analog clocks, and watching the forest change daily behind my house, inspiring strange gardens to be painted onto recycled construction materials.
