Nature’s Art:
As a three-dimensional wood sculptor, I work through subtraction—every cut is irreversible. What’s removed is gone forever. I began carving as a boy, shaping small animal figurines from found wood. Each piece I create carries intention, motivation, and story. What fascinates me most is how each piece of wood guides the sculpture—its grain, knots, cracks, and curves dictate form and direction. My role isn’t to impose, but to liberate: to reveal what’s already held within the wood.
I receive reclaimed timber—from friends who’ve felled aging trees—and honor that history by giving it new life. In this way, I don’t just sculpt wood—I recycle memory, spirit, and time. I don’t seek to replicate nature. Instead, I coax out the whimsical, the unexpected—the one-of-a-kind personality hidden within each piece of the tree. And when people look at a finished piece, I love that they see something different: a face, a creature, a feeling—proof that the wood still breathes, still speaks, still belongs to our world.
