Ava L Clark
Hollyhocks, Oil
Originally from Florida, I relocated to North Carolina two years ago, which has introduced me to new environments and experiences that continue to influence my work. I draw inspiration from my surroundings, nature, travel, and the details found in everyday life.
My primary mediums are oil paint and ink, and I enjoy the different approaches each medium allows me to take.
With oil paint, I focus on creating detailed work while still allowing the process to remain loose and expressive. I enjoy working with layers of color and texture to develop depth without making the piece overly refined.
With ink, I aim for a more realistic approach, using line, shading, and contrast to capture the details of my subjects.
Working in both mediums allows me to explore different techniques while continuing to develop my style and understanding of realism.
Through my artwork, I hope to capture the character and atmosphere of the subjects and places that inspire me.
