Weaving, for me, is an act of joy and meditation. I seek to create objects that are their complete selves and through these objects offer my clients a tangible representation of the feeling I have when creating them. I take great pride and comfort in the belief that this craft ties me ever more tightly to all women who came before me who needed to make something useful but chose to create something beautiful.
I use traditional drafts and patterns to make each of my pieces. Every tea towel, pillow, scarf, throw and coverlet is modeled on those historically made in the remote communities found in Appalachia. This approach brings be closer to the women of these households and furthers my own understanding of the people of my beloved mountains.
