International Festival Day 2009
Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
International Festival Day is quickly approaching!  Come to
downtown Waynesville for eclectic food, international dance
performances, hands-on crafts, and beautiful works of art on
Saturday, July 25, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

International Festival Day has something for all ages.  Children will
love the festival’s Passport the Arts area located in the United
Community Bank parking lot.  Here kids can create free
international crafts to take home.  This year’s crafts include:
Kenyan weaving bracelets, Mexican tin art, Japanese calligraphy,
French lavender sachets, American blotto abstract art, and Chilean
rain sticks.

Art lovers will be in heaven as they stroll down Main Street.  More
than 90 artists from all over the Southeast will be displaying their
wares on the street, plus all galleries and shops in Waynesville will
be open for the day.  Returning favorites include Diannah
Beauregard, jewelry; Athlone Clarke, folk art; The Whittle Man,
walking sticks; Susie Q Gourds; and Cloudy Day Studio, clay.

Folkmoot USA’s international dancers will be performing at the
festival again this year.  Performances will take place at the
Waynesville Courthouse and Town Hall throughout the day, giving
visitors a unique glimpse of world cultures.  This year Voices in the
Laurel Children’s Choir will perform for the first time, adding local
flair to the festival entertainment.

Food lovers will be able to sample international cuisine including
Greek, Cuban, Asian, French, and Cajun foods.  The taste
sensations offered here will satisfy the palette of even the toughest
critic.
