GRASSROOTS GRANTS

The Grassroots Grant Program provides financial support for Haywood
County-based community and nonprofit organizations that produce programs
and projects that enhance the arts for county residents.

Applications will be evaluated based on artistic merit, benefit to audience
or participants, involvement of racially and culturally diverse participants as
appropriate to the project, and organizational strengths.

The Grassroots Grants program, administered by the state of North Carolina,
provides the Haywood County Arts Council, a Designated County Partner
(DCP), a grant to be used for artistic programming. The Arts Council retains
50% of this money for internal programs such as the Sunday Series,
Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival, Arts in the Schools, and other programs.
The remaining 50% is distributed to qualifying organizations within Haywood County
that work to promote the arts.
